The state's second most populous city once again fended off Salem for that title in the 2020 census. While Salem may eventually overtake Track Town, Eugene will remain Lane County's county seat and the largest city, far ahead of Springfield.

Eugene is home to the University of Oregon and several smaller colleges, as well as the Morse Federal Courthouse. The later is one of only four courthouses in the District of Oregon.
